Happy 4th of July, everyone. This date always gets us thinking about this great country, even its problems. Then I start thinking about why, and then I get frustrated. I read an article by a good friend this morning that was well written, and I borrowed a lot of this content from his position. Your beliefs have nothing to do with my ability to like you as a friend.
I believe we all have the right to worship as we please, but I also know that our country, the United States of America, was founded on Christian principles. Let’s be proud of our country. A quote is a quote, and it should not be amended or watered down for any reason!
The news media should not be afraid to use “Jesus Christ” or “in God we trust.” Why do they hesitate, “Because using the words Christ or God might offend someone!” Well, how do I feel about that? I don’t like it.
I’m offended that the news media would edit it out. Offended that Christians need to tread lightly to avoid offending someone of another religion. This man, Jesus Christ, was sent by God, loved his people, loved the world, and gave his life for the sins of all people. Those who believe in Him, and accept Him as their personal Savior, will have everlasting life!!!
This Founding Principle is in our Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that their Creator endows them with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Why would the media continue to edit this truth?
The problem is that the media is just a source to sensationalize and push an agenda. It’s not news. News, by definition, is facts. The problem is that today it’s all opinions, not facts. Some of it may be true, some not, but people in this world have lost the ability to be nice to someone who believes differently. I’m for president _______ and your for president _______. Now you no longer like me. I’m a _____ and you’re a _______. Now you no longer like me. Why? That kind of thinking will make you miserable. It will also cause you to start conflicts with family and friends you should love!
So, with all of that said, embrace your beliefs and who you are! Love your neighbor as yourself. I will love you regardless of your beliefs. Let’s all get along.
Have a great holiday weekend!
